INDIANA MEMBERS CREDIT UNION AWARDS

$1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS TO IUPUI COLLEGE STUDENTS

(Indianapolis, IN, September 10, 2009) Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU) awarded $1,000 scholarships to two college students at IUPUI.  The winners were Brittany Jaco and Noma Ogbeifun. 

The Indiana Members Credit Union Scholarships for the 2009-2010 academic year at IUPUI were awarded based on an essay submitted by the students describing the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” and how they demonstrate that philosophy through their actions of service.  The scholarship winners were extremely honored to receive the award.  Noma said, “IMCU is continuing its ‘People Helping People’ philosophy by recognizing that members are students that have dreams and aspirations.  The scholarship helps with those dreams.”  Brittany stated, “It’s a blessing to receive financial help to achieve my academic goal, and I want to thank IMCU for their support for continuing my education.”  This is the first year IMCU has awarded this particular scholarship.  Ron Collier, CEO of Indiana Members Credit Union, stated that, “it’s exciting to see students playing an active role in the community and realizing the importance of giving back.  Supporting educational needs has significant meaning to all of us at the credit union, especially since we were founded on the campus of IUPUI over 50 years ago.  IMCU wants to give back to the community in a way that will help build the future and awarding these scholarships helps us to reach that goal.”
